 ABOUT LEVÄTÄ

Levätä is Finnish for the verb "to rest". This name reflects my mission to help people to rest and reconnect with their values, intuition and greatest sense of wellbeing.

One of the definitions of levätä is "to lie fallow”. Farmers give their fields a fallow season - a year off from producing crops - so that nutrients can return to the soil; it is understood that rest is necessary for productivity. As humans in modern society, we are both the farmer and the soil: We must give ourselves the opportunity to lie fallow so we can gather the “nutrients” we most need, which may include clarity, serenity, perspective, connection with loved ones and time for ourselves. At LEVÄTÄ, we also seek to question and explore what “productivity” might look like for each of us, and how it might evolve over time, or whether it’s a useful concept at all.

The word levätä also calls up the word levitate, or the “rising up” after rest. A common phrase in yoga is “root to rise” or “rooting down to rise up”, which refers to finding one’s physical footing or foundation in order to be able to rise into an asana (pose). LEVÄTÄ seeks to support you in reconnecting with not only your physical foundation but with your intuition and the core values that ground you and make it possible for you to rise into your greatest sense of wellbeing.

LEVÄTÄ is also interested in the idea of “the rest”, or what is left over after everything else falls away, and exploring questions like: Who are we once we remove ourselves from the busy-ness of our modern lives? What is truly important to us? How can we reconnect with ourselves, and our values, intuition and greatest sense of wellbeing? And how do we maintain that connection for lasting wellbeing?

ABOUT LEVÄTÄ'S LOGO

In 2020, a tornado ripped through my village, and several of the pine trees in front of my home were heavily damaged. And yet, they still stand and thrive and share their beauty and shelter. One in particular lost many of its branches down one side, while the other side continues to grow and spread its gorgeous branches. For me, it is a daily and beautiful reminder of resilience: Painful events in our lives may challenge and change us, but we can still stand, still grow and still live an incredible, meaningful life.

The blue of the logo represents rest and rooting down into ourselves, our intentions and values, while the yellow represents reigniting and rising up into our greatest sense of wellbeing. We can only continue to thrive, shelter our loved ones and share our beauty when we are protected (encircled) by restorative care.
